Fine, intricate cuts with a naturally polished edge — best for detailed shapes and thinner materials that a router bit would tear or overheat.
Laser cutting uses a focused beam instead of a rotating bit, which means it can follow much finer detail than CNC router cutting — sharp inside corners, thin connecting lines, delicate lattice patterns — without the material chipping or a bit breaking through thin sections. On acrylic specifically, the laser also melts and seals the cut edge as it goes, so the piece comes out with a polished, almost glass-like edge straight off the machine, no separate polishing step needed.
We use this for detailed acrylic letters and logos, fine jaali and lattice patterns, intricate invitation and packaging die-lines, small acrylic photo cutouts and awards, and any job where the design has thin details a router simply can't cut cleanly. It's less suited to very thick or dense material — beyond a certain thickness, cutting speed drops and edge quality on some materials, particularly wood-based ones which can scorch, starts to suffer, and CNC router cutting becomes the more practical choice.
